XenData Archive Series software
X64 and X32 Editions - Version 5.01Release Date: 21 October 2009
Version 5.01 of XenData Archive Series software is released today. It is available as X64 and X32 Editions.
Changes from Previous Version (5.00)
X64 Edition is Added
Version 5.00 was only available as the X32 Edition. Version 5.01 is released in two editions: the X32 Edition and the X64 Edition. The new X64 Edition runs on 64 bit Windows 2003 R2.
New versions of XenData software can be used by any customer who had a valid maintenance agreement in place with XenData on the date the new version was released. To upgrade from a previous version of XenData Archive Series, please follow these steps:
1. Un-install the current software using ‘Add/Remove Programs’ in the Windows Control Panel.
2. Reboot the server.
3. Double click on the applicable ‘XenData Archive Series.msi’ and follow the instructions provided by the setup wizard accepting defaults.
4. Reboot the server.
System configuration and license information will be maintained from the previous version
Bug Fixes
It includes a number of bug fixes, including:• An error condition is fixed that could cause the repack operation to stop before completion, especially when repacking fragmented files.
• A bug in the Windows Explorer extension is fixed which meant that files would not be restored from multiple tapes in an optimized order.
Improved Tape Library Support
There is improved support for the Sun SL500 and Spectra Logic T-Series tape libraries:
• A bug which prevented export of multiple tape cartridges in one session from the SL500 is fixed.
• Improved support is provided for Specta Logic T-Series libraries that are partitioned into multiple logical libraries.
No Change to the API
There are no changes to the API relative to version 5.00.
XenData Alert Module
Version 5.01

Version 5.01 of the XenData Alert Module is released today.
Changes from Previous Version (1.01)
Compatibility with X64 Edition of XenData Archive Series Software Added
Version 5.01 of the Alert Module is available in two versions: one for installation on 32 bit Editions of Windows 2003 for use with the XenData X32 Edition; another for installation on 64 bit Editions of Windows 2003 R2 SP2 for use with the XenData X64 Edition.
Dynamic Expansion of System Tray
The On-Screen Messaging component of the Alert Module now has a system tray box that expands dynamically to support long messages.
Easier Installation of On-Screen Messaging Component on Clients
The On-Screen Messaging component is now installed on clients using an msi file.

3. Double click on the applicable ‘XenData Alert Module v5.01.msi’ and follow the instructions provided by the setup wizard accepting defaults.
4. Reboot the server.
System configuration and license information will be maintained from the previous version.
To upgrade a client that runs the on-screen messaging component, please follow these steps:
1. Exit the XenData On-Sreen Messaging system tray application.
2. Delete ‘XDEvtMonSysTray.exe’ and the folder ‘C:\Program Files\Common Files\XenData\MessageFiles’.
3. Reboot.
4. Follow the installation instructions for the new version.
